Fairy Tales and Folklore of Droylsden.
From the 19th February and for the school half term week (19 – 27 February) you can try out the ‘trail of tales’, featuring original stories by children from Moorside Primary School, Manchester Road Primary Academy and Greenside Primary School.
These fabulous stories are chock-a-block with brave heroes and heroines, wicked villains, sorcery, and sword fights. Their words have been brought to life with beautiful images created by No Eyed Theatre.
Collect your trail map from the library and see if you can find all 8 stories and their illustrations in the windows of some of Droylsden’s local businesses! Who knows – if you had a workshop with us, we might have chosen your story! All of the events and activities are free so come on down for a ‘happily ever-after’ day of fun!
You could also come down to Droylsden Town Centre on Saturday 19th February (10am till 3pm) 2022 for a fantastical adventure – in Villemomble Square, you might encounter The Wondrous Funderstorm and their dragon, or meet a friendly bard who will spin you a story.
Interested in telling stories of your own? Come to Droylsden Library for a drop-in workshop led by Rowbot Street CIC and make your own crankie theatre to take away with you – crankies are an old way of telling stories with pictures and a lot of fun! (Suitable for ages 5 and over).

Hats Off to Denton.
Hat’s Off to Denton is a free hat sculpture trail inspired by the town’s hatting heritage. The 15 hat trail, 5 of which are giant, will be exhibited across Denton Town Centre between Saturday 19th February and Sunday 13th March.
Each hat will unique as they will be hand painted by a local artist, with the designs inspired by the town or a community group within the town.

The Hug.
Coming to Astley Cheetham Art Gallery in Stalybridge is the wonderful family friendly performance of ‘The Hug’ on Saturday 19th February 2022, with a Live performance at 11.30am and 2.30pm presented by Long Nose Puppets
Based on the heart-warming and funny book ‘The Hug’ by Eoin McLaughlin and Polly Dunbar. Starring a Hedgehog and a Tortoise both in search of a restorative hug.
Facing many rejections along the way, they meet a rather scary badger, an obsessive squirrel who knows A LOT about nuts, a fabulous fox and an owl who is trying hard to be wise. A tale of hope, empathy and acceptance.
Set to Tom Gray’s beautiful and witty music, the audience are invited on a journey full of fun, laughter and love…and at the end, a very special hug from our puppets.
