Dear Parents and Carers
I am very pleased to inform you that we have been chosen to be an Early Adopter of the Government’s new Universal Breakfast Club. We think that this will be a fantastic opportunity for all our families! What this means is that all children from Reception to Year Six will be able to come to school from 8.30 am and have their breakfast in school. We hope that this will save our families some money on the weekly shop!
You may have heard in the news that the 750 pilot schools were due to open their breakfast provision from 8.30 am from this week. Sadly, we were only informed the week before Easter and this was not sufficient time to make all the arrangements needed for staffing and food etc to open this week for all children. We did however manage to open for Year Six children this week. And thanks to our Catering Manager and her team and the Year Six staff, everything has gone really well.
The breakfasts on offer will meet all the national food standards and will include a choice. Miss Plant and her catering team will also provide for all dietary requirements, in just the same way as they do at lunch time, which includes special diets, intolerances and allergies.
We are planning to open for more and more classes each week as we go through the next few weeks, please bear with us whilst we get up and running. Below are the dates when we are planning to open for each department:
Year Group or Class | Breakfast Provision Opening |
Year Six | Tuesday 22nd April 2025 onwards |
Oasis Two and Oasis Three | Monday 28th April 2025 onwards |
Middle Years (Years 1, 2 & 3) | Tuesday 6th May 2025 onwards |
Reception | Monday 12th May 2025 onwards |
Year Four and Five | Monday 19th May 2025 onwards |
As you can see we will be fully operational for all children by 19th May. This pilot will continue until the end of March 2026. We will be in touch with parents who currently use our early morning Breakfast Club to explain the new arrangements and how the two clubs will merge – until then please continue to drop your children off as normal.
Mrs McHugh and her team are currently working on plans for the Oasis 1 children and will be in touch directly with their parents directly.
Please watch out on your child’s Classdojo or Seesaw page for details of how this will work for your child’s class, what to do and where to go and so on. Phase Leaders will be in touch nearer the opening time for your class.
In the meantime, thank you for your patience whilst we make sure that the breakfast club we deliver is the best it can be.
Many Thanks
Mrs Mason
