Dear Parents and Carers

The National Education Union (NEU) are intending to take industrial strike action on

Thursday 27th April 2023 and Tuesday 2nd May 2023.

Following a comprehensive risk assessment, I wish to outline my provisional plans for the opening of the school on those days.  It is important to note that these plans are provisional and may be subject to change at short notice on the day, in the event of unanticipated staff absence.  So, my strongest advice continues to be for all parents to have a backup plan for childcare ready just in case.

Priority Groups

In considering the needs of our most vulnerable children, I have prioritised attendance for our children with EHCPs, children with social workers and Looked After Children.  In addition, I have prioritised opening class where children will be taking part in Statutory Assessment later in May and June. Finally, I have made changes to the usual timetable to enable me to open school for the maximum number of children safely.   Parents of children in vulnerable groups whose classes are affected will be contacted individually to confirm our arrangements for their care on the day.

Partial Closure Arrangements

Thursday 27th April

As it stands the following classes will be closed:

Nursery (Part-time morning & afternoon), Y1S, Y5L & Y5S

ALL OTHER CLASSES SHOULD ATTEND AS NORMAL

Tuesday 2nd May

As it stands the following classes will be closed:

Nursery (Part-time morning & afternoon), Y1S, Y4W, Y5S

ALL OTHER CLASSES SHOULD ATTEND AS NORMAL

If your child is in one the affected classes, I must ask you to make alternative arrangements for childcare on the day of the strike.

Our advice is that children use the time to complete any homework that has already been set (including reading) and children are encouraged to complete wider study, using our online apps.

Packed Lunches will be provided for all children of affected classes.

School Opening Arrangements

·        Breakfast Club will operate as normal on both days.

·        Children in school should wear their uniform as usual or PE Kit, as normal.

·        In the event of unanticipated staff absence, leading to short notice changes, we will contact parents in the first instance by 8.30 am.

·        School will open and close at the normal time.

·        For unaffected classes after school clubs will operate as normal on both days.

·        Homework Club and Booster Classes for unaffected classes will operate as normal.

Please remember that these arrangements are provisional and continue to be under review and could be subject to change nearer the time.  If there are any changes we will be in contact as soon as possible.

Yours faithfully

Mrs Mason
