Welcome to Y1S
Hello, and welcome to Y1S!
My name is Mr Selby, and Mrs Culpin and I are excited to taking your children on an amazing learning journey throughout their time in Year One! This year, we will be working hard to take on new challenges, expand our knowledge and understanding and achieve our full potential both inside and outside of the classroom.
When not being busy with the children in class, I like to spend my time running (currently training for the Tour Of Tameside!), cycling, and reading books about all things history related (I particularly like the cartoon charcter Asterix!!) I have two children of my own, and enjoy spending time going on family adventures. This usually involved being in the great outdoors, enjoying the weather!
I look forward to meeting you all in the course of the year, and if you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
You can contact me using our Class Dojo page, or pop in and make a short appointment to see me at the end of the school day.
We love books!
Engaging children in high quality texts is a priority for us. Take a look at our Reading Spine to find out which texts your child will encounter during their time in Year One! We believe that cracking the phonic code is the key to unlocking a life-long love of reading. We love to learn!
